Upgrades and Accessories are substantial parts of a good and well-balanced product range and allow the expansion and adjustment of an existing ICP or GDT controller according to a new situation and mission.

The RAIDYNE Upgrades represent an easy and effective way to expand GDT controllers, which have limited RAID functionality, to rich featured and fully equipped RAID Controllers (RAID 0,1,4,5,10). This migration path is an interesting possibility to protect already existing investments.

Our accessories in the SCSI-Connectivity area are very special articles. Other vendors may sell similar products, too. When you intend to buy them there, please always keep the following points in mind. "Cheap products are often made of cheap components". These are:

• Low-Cost Connectors: poor contacts made of bad material are often defective after a few connection cycles, or have no deterministic time characteristics (reduced contact force, corrosion).
  
• Low-Cost Cables: wrong impedances and wrong lengths are 'poison' for any SCSI bus.
  
• Insufficient and badly designed layouts of SCSI bracket PCBs are sources of avoidable noise emission and EMI problems. CE/FCC problems are very likely.
  
• Badly designed LVD/SE terminators. LVD/SE busses require correctly working multimode terminators.
  

Our Advice: A high quality SCSI system configuration starts with exactly these details and ends with excellent SCSI devices and controllers. A small amount of money perhaps saved on cheap SCSI Accessories, can cost on the other hand a huge amount if something goes wrong.
